Recently I purchased a 4 post hydraulic lift and have the lift all wired up and put in place all 4 posts bolted in place however the only problem I have is when the lift is raised up it will lower the other 3 posts but gets stuck on one post I have tried everything with brakes with levelling the lift and nothing will work
since this is the first lift I have ever put up I don't know if I have done anything wrong or not

Please don't think I'm being rude but this is a garage equipment specialists job.Get an expert in to get it working properly and give it a full safety check.

I worked on garage equipment foe 30 years, but haven't a clue what you are saying ,
What type of lift is it and what's happening?

Would this help? http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/g939/h...

I read, "air in the hoses ... can cause choppy, uneven lifting."

Presumably this is a used 4-post lift?

It's likely that the locking pin is faulty and is not releasing, although as above if you don't know what you're doing then get professional help in, they may condemn your ramp or charge you more than you would want, but both options are considerably better than being crushed to death under a loaded ramp when it collapses.

there is a reason there are so many ramps sold by garages on ebay & the like as "working, needs TLC", usually it's because they have stopped working correctly/safely and the mechanics refuse to work under them, or that they have actually bothered to have them LOLER checked (possibly by their insurance companies) and have failed these examinations!

Also consider that these have to be well mounted into the flooreek

I have fitted two;

A Bradbury and laycock.

I found that to get them all square it was easier to run it up and down a couple of times prior to bolting it down. You can then get all the distances and r adjust before bolting down.

It could be one upright is not square, so the locking mechanism catches as you lower it.

When up I put 4x4 fence posts in each corner just incase

26 years ago I had a lift collapse(due to poor maintenance),as I pressed the button to lower it.The car that fell six feet had just been worked on by myself.
When that sort of thing happens right in front of your nose it sort of sticks with you for life.

Everything on that lift must be checked and double checked by an expert.All professional workshops must by law have lifts inspected by an engineer once a year.They also must keep a register of all the inspections and maintenance.
