What are bottle jacks used for?
Discussion
I carry one of the small £20ish trolley jacks in the RRC, together with a short piece of thick ply. Takes up little room & much safer than the screw type bottlejack that it came with. I have a couple of wheel chocks in the car as well.
One of the best uses for a bottle jack is the cheap hydraulic presses - I've got one of the 10 ton ones & very useful it's been!

We once made a makeshift press using a 20t bottle jack, a railway sleeper and the bottom of a HGV chassis that was parked in the yard to press a wheel bearing shell out of the bottom of a suspension strut when the little press in the workshop wasn't man enough One of the best uses for a bottle jack is the cheap hydraulic presses - I've got one of the 10 ton ones & very useful it's been!
