So, I was going to get abused 4 post ramp but decided to board out the roof of my garage to use As a garage stuff stowage place. Also a retreat from a house full of females.

I've about 2.7m from ground to joist.

I've a 240z as a painter bare shell. It'll sit about 1.6m high.

I've been looking at mid height scissor lifts, to raise it about 1m or so. Anyone else got one? I like the ones you can walk 'through'.

Any other suggestions?

If you dont fancy a 2 post, then a scissor lift is probably the way to go.

I'd love either, but alas, like most 'modern' semi's, I can barely fit a car in my garage.

a 2 post lift would just take up extra space for no real gain that I can see?

We've got a scissor lift built in to a raised floor of our garage, means when it's down it's basically not there.

It works great, obviously can't stand underneath it but you've got much more access than jack stands. Suspension work etc is a lot easier as is interior stuff being able to lift the car up so you're stood rather than bent over.

Never done it but should be able to get an engine out from underneath.

It's a bit pricey but if you can afford it it's a great luxury to have. Even simple things like getting all 4 wheels off at once is just so much easier.
