Had setup a price alert on 3 camels some months ago and seems like it has dropped massively in price today.

65pounds for a Proper German KSTools stuff, used to be around 100 when I last looked few months ago.
Halfords stuff although decent for DIY doesn't really comes close to these in quality.

Also ordered one - on the basis it looks nice - but what makes it better than the Halfords Professional / Advanced stuff?

72 clicks on the ratchet is nice. That is definitely one area the Halfords fall short on, not enough clicks, which is a bit pants in tight spaces.

I'm sure I have 4 of everything in that set (and is probably covered by last year's Halfords 200 piece purchase that I didn't need)....but I'll probably still buy it anyway biggrin

Nothing really, it's near enough equivalent quality.

Unlike the Halfords stuff, it's all six point sockets, which, in my book, is a plus.

The halfords are just so crude.. The ratchets aren't one of the best either.

Recently swapped and rebuilt an engine with one of this KS tools set ( borrowed from someone) , top stuff with more or less everything included you might ever need. I have some halfords stuff as well but it's carp if you have used nicer tools, Obviously these aren't the quality of something like snap-on but you get the point.

When working on older cars where things have started to seize and corrode multi point sockets can round things off very easily, six point have a huge advantage in these scenarios in my opinion.

Unfortunately, all my older cars are AF, so I need a heads up for a six point imperial set smile

It was cheaper earlier in the afternoon. We've missed the deal.

Limited deal. I debated for 30 seconds before pulling the trigger at £65.

Even if you bought cheapest separates it would have worked out way more than that kit.

Thanks OP.

Looks like I've missed out. I'll keep my eyes out for a good 6 pointed socket set at a reasonable price.

You've got me browsing now!

Found this with rachet spanners, never heard of Vonhaus, any good? The sort of thing I could just leave in the boot.

Those are crap, there are several different sets which looks similar but they are knockoffs and will come apart as soon as you start using them.. It's all about the brand when you buy sockets.

Thanks mate. Now that you've said that about Halfords stuff, you have a point. Been using it for years without any issues (apart from the rubbish amount of clicks) but I guess there are always better options out there. Only thing missing from the KS set is triple square bits, which is a common fastener on German cars.

Should get mine on Monday apparently. Not in a rush for it, but it's surprisingly slow delivery considering it's a stock item in their warehouse. Looking forward to undoing and tightening some stuff smile

I've got a Halfords 150pc set from a few years ago and it seems reasonable quality to me, though the lack of clicks on the ratchet is noticeable and a bit of a pain sometimes.

Unfortunately, I now keep the whole lot in my tool chest and it rolls all over the place. You can buy a tray for the new kits but the new kits are a bit different from my slightly older one.

Can anyone recommend a good quality set like this KS Tools one that comes with or for which you can buy a tray to keep it all organised in the tool chest drawers please?

If you are willing to spend half an hour with a sharp knife, you can make your own custom foam drawer inserts very easily using 'cut & peel' layered foam.
