Sounds as if the starter solenoid is not engaging.

Check the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 12.5 V with the engine off. If not, that's your problem.

If the battery voltage is OK, check the voltage at the solenoid when you are trying to start. It should be very close to the battery voltage you measured. If not, you have a wiring/electrical fault.

Otherwise you have a faulty starter motor.

Hi All, Ive been reading with interest the starting problem issues youve been having. My Grand Voyager ( 2008 2.8CRD MK5) developed a non starting issue. It turns over well but will not fire up.
Ive changed the battery for a brand new battery, changed the glow plugs, tested the injectors (all good), renewed pressure sensor on fuel bar, just one end!!!!, tried temporarily by passing the fuel relay just in case, emptied the fuel tank and renewed the fuel about £20 worth, running out of ideas. can anyone help !!!!!!!

You say you have changed the glow plugs, have you also checked they are powering up?

You say you have tested the injectors, I assume you mean you have pulled them out & checked they are injecting?

Diesels are really simple engines in real terms, if they have fuel at the right time & good compression they work, the exception being cold not helping them.

So, have you checked compression?
