Stanley Tools (screwdrivers etc) - any good?
Discussion
Looking to buy a decent screwdriver set (fixed, not removable bits). Have done a quick PH search and found a few options:
- Facom
- Wera
- Halfords Advanced
- Stanley
Facom seems to be the standout for quality but notably more expensive. I'm probably not going to be subjecting them to very heavy use but want something decent and will last.
What is the general consensus on Stanley stuff? Seem a decent wedge cheaper than Facom (and seems to come with convenient case etc).
Perhaps worth waiting for the Halfords Advanced when they have their sale? I have their 150 pc (iirc) tool set and it's decent enough quality. Not to the extent that some members eulogise over, but at sale price good value.
Worth a look or it is a case of buy cheap(er), buy twice?

Facom must be three tiem more expensve than anything else - their quality is outstanding, but necessary unles yiou use then everyday?
Nothing against Stanley.
But Halfords Advanced are excellent, and I think their 'no quibble' guarantee still stands.

I bought a Stanley ratchet screwdriver a few years ago. It has interchangeable bits, a magnetic shaft and a six or eight bit holder around the collar. It got a lot of use, was very reliable and I rate it very highly. So much so, that I now own four of them. One lives in the garage, and one in the house and the same at our second home.
