Help, Ford Focus st2 battery light !!
Discussion
Did the garage that fitted the new alternator and battery do a check to see if the battery is actually receiving charge?
Usually there is a trigger wire that runs from the alternator into the cars electrical system and then to the battery. If it's damaged it may well be that although the alternator is working the current is not being sent back to the battery hence you still see the battery light illuminated on the dash.

just had a new alternator fitted ... it’s showing the battery light
If I were you I'd take that back to the people who fitted it, and ask them what's wrong. They should not have returned the vehicle with a fault related to the work they have just done without at least explaining it to you.Should be a smart charge alternator and I would say its not working. It defaults to reg 14 ish v.
The looms are crap and fail. Smart charge alts can put very high voltages out if they need to.
Default fail is 14 ish v and battery light.
The loom usually fails away from the alternator a bit.
