I had a set of these (actually at the time only £6 inc delivery due to a pricing cock up)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000RO1OGI/ref...

They have some sort of shoulder drive feature, yes very good.

I am looking at buying AK7980. Is this suitable for basic servicing on cars ? http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?id=20&am...

I'm sure it'll be fine. I think the default answer though is Halfords (make sure you buy when there's an offer on)

I have a number of Sealey products. I think it's good gear, for not too much money.

That looks like a nice set but I reckon you'd be better off buying specific tools.

Say a 1/2" socket set like Sealey AK693
A 1/2" torque wrench
Some Wera screwdrivers and hex keys
Spanners like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neilsen-CT0441-Polish-Spa...

It should be more bespoke and cost you less (although you'll spend that saving on a tool chest!)

Something odd about the original Sealy set quoted, is the sizes.

A 3/8" set is my "go to" kit and fits into a small easy to manage case. My 1/2" stuff is a random collection and only gets used for really tight stuff like suspension and brakes. 1/4" is hardly used and taken care of with some add bits in a screwdriver set.

Ditto, bar a couple of odds and ends (a long 10mm?) the 200pc Halfords set is all you'll ever need, they recently solidified the lifetime warranty on their advanced range to no longer require a receipt for replacement. They RRP at £350, you just missed the black Friday week they where £135, but they are still half price at £175 at the moment. I assume the 2 or so suckers a year that buy them full price subsidise them for the rest biggrin
