Hi guys, I’m entering the final year of my apprenticeship as a vehicle tech and my current Sealey tool box is full. I’m looking to upgrade to a quality tool box but snap on and such are out of reach as far as price goes. Any recommendations? Cheers

Gedore, Facom, Stahlwille to name a few. TBH, a Snap-on one will last forever and always have a value to it. Mine is nearly 20 years old now and still like new. Still fetching good money on ebay/private sales.

Snap on finance is good. As said if you look after a good krl it will always be worth a few quid. I sold mine when I gave up the cars I lost about 600 quid on it over 7 years. I currently have a 28 inch stack and a britool roll cab beside it which is plenty for pricking around at home

I have a KRL at home - paid a VW mechanic good money for it when he was packing up, and I’d probably get similar for it if I sold it now. The only bits you lose money on are the optional extras, I picked up a side cab with the vertical slides for peanuts, they cost a fortune new.

Why buy a brand new snap on toolbox when you can find some very good deals on ebay?
Won a 7 drawer roll cab & top box for £100 more than the halfrauds equivalent.

Halfords are doing web only cyber deals on their industrial range, although only in green, blue or orange. Currently £315 for a roll cab and chest.
Ends tonight at midnight so get a move on.

I have one, had it years, very solid as far as non-snap on brands go.

Costco had a box that was discussed here. I bought it last year and have been pretty happy. It weighed about 100kg so not light duty.

I'll second this, I got a 7 drawer 26 inch Snap On roll cab from Gumtree for not too much, although I was looking at some of the bigger ones on ebay and was sorely tempted, as long as you buy wisely you can pick up some bargains.

Nice set up here. Worth making an offer for £500 and see how it goes.

Conor,
You do have a Halfords trade card, do you? They'll hand them out to college students in car related courses, so for an apprentice shouild be no problem.
Yes, you are/going to be a professional, so may want to have SnapOn etc. but Halfords Professional range very good, and their 'no quibble' gaurantee is genuine. I've had failed tools replaced straight off the shelf, no questions, and others have too.

If a failed tool puts you off, I was abusing it! But still they din't quibble!

I’ve got both a Halfords professional and a Halfords Industrial Cabinet. There is no comparison, the industrial cab is streets ahead. For occasional use the professional one is fine but the industrial one is far better and what I would recommend if you can’t stretch to a snap on.
That said, the Clarke top of the range stuff isn’t bad either.

Described as "Ideal Christmas present for your apprentice" but at that price, even for you, Conor?
