There isn't really a 'best' product as the pads will make a difference as well as the operator. I have a combination of mequiars pads (black, yellow & red for cutting, buffing & polishing) & different compounds depending on the state of the paintwork (80, 83 & 105). Black paintwork I finish with Poorboys Black hole glaze & Black Natty Paste.

I'd suggest having a look at the Detailing Kingdom Next Cut 1.1 (heavy cut), Next Cut 3.3 (light cut) and Finale (anti-hologram) products. They are about the easiest compounds I've ever worked and far superior in my eyes to the 3M stuff. They work well with the URO microfibre pads. The 1.1 often can be used as a one stage polish, it finishes so well, but the Finale will happily deal with any holograms if you don't want to be too aggressive.

In2Detailing sells them.

I've had good results with Sonax Ex 04-06.

Its DA specific designed and also has a formula which has good cut but then becomes finer grade as you work it more and therefore gives a good shine too.
