Trolley jack and axle stands
Discussion
Looking to buy a low profile trolley jack for some DIY. The one with the car is pants.
I dont have a front jacking point that will work, its too far back.
Whats the correct method for getting the front of the car onto two axle stands using a single trolley jack from the sides? A bit hesitant to jack one side and place onto stands, then the other. Worried it might push the car to one side.

I did think about that, is this really the only option? Suppose I can get a decent jack and a cheap one as well.
Depends how high you want to get it, just enough to take wheels off then yes your good jack and a cheapie will do.phillpot said:
Two jacks
To go higher I'd go for a couple of cheap 'uns under the sides then when it's up a bit put your good 'un under something suitable and central and up she goes
You say your front jacking point is too far back so;
a couple of bricks or short scaffold boards or both to make a temporary ramp will lift the car enough to reach with your jack.
I have this same problem with my MX5 and a 2.5t trolly jack.
Made my temp ramps with 3x2 & 12mm ply. Once 90mm up the jack will lift the cross member to 450mm.
Axle stands under and jobs a goodun.
