Hi all, I'm new here and hoping for some advice please...

I'm just wondering if anyone in the know can advise whether I'm better off getting a Bosch S3 008 or Bosch S4 002 for a 2014 Zafira?

Cost wise much of a muchness (£64 versus £70 - can't remember which way around but for the difference, would rather the better battery).

The amp and CCA ratings appear to be higher on the S3 but I've seen others saying any S4 is better than an S3.

Spec details...

Bosch S3 008
12Volts
Technology Wet
Capacity (C20)70 AhC
CA (EN)640 A

Bosch S4 002
12 Volts
Technology Wet
Capacity (C20)52 Ah
CCA (EN)470 A

Any advice welcome.

Thanks in advance.

S4 is calcium with 15% better cold start over S3, says Bosch.

If it's a diesel engine, some would take the higher cranking output, what with glowplugs and all.

It's a petrol- sorry should mentioned that.

So would you say S4 as petrol? Also does it matter about amps being higher on the S3?

Thanks!

The 002 and the 008 batteries are different physical dimensions so you really need to choose the one that fits your battery space and brackets.
The choice between S3 or S4 then depends on whether you want to pay the extra for a better battery in that size that has a slightly longer guarantee.
The two batteries you refer to are not the S3 or S4 versions of the same battery.

Thanks for all your help. Went for S4 from Costco on end - very good value! Cheers again!
