Ford parts and compatibly...I need Help
Discussion
Hello Piston heads I have a tech question I'm hoping some one can help me with I'm also dislexic so bare with me,i have a RH 2001 Ford maverick zetec xlt 4wd SUV ( WFOCU04B511101119) with what I believe is a failing Fuel pump unfortunately parts for this are rare as it's an import now I've done my homework and it's been a painstaking process tracking one down but I've found an OE 9H307/ 5260661 fuel pump from a scrap yard with 3 year warranty but they want £230 now yesterday I've just come across a 2003 ford Mondeo zetec ( WFOWXXGBBW3K79791 at another scrap yard and I'm thinking since it's roughly the same year,it's a zetec and the same country/ factory manufacturer I might be able to use this one instead now I'd rather buy brand new but im leaving in a hostel right now and on benefit so can anyone give me an honest opinion on what I can do? Or if you know of one of these going for spares and repair cheaply? ,thank you everyone
Oh not sure if it's important but I'm in England (GB) cheers

Firstly, a fuel pump just provides a flow of fuel at the right rate & the right pressure so it will 100% be adequate for the task.
Secondly, the only real issue you have is will it fit.
My own personal answer would be to buy the cheapest one you can for the car with the same engine and try it (try ebay) unless you can get dimensional data for each.
On top of that £230 sounds like a lot for a fuel pump, is that a complete pump/filter/regulator housing?

Is it an inline tank? You mean is it in the tank yes it is,it goes in like plutonium into a time traveling deloren,...and yes I've heard the same thing off of a few people about Nissan terranos but I think there getting there wires crossed with the Mazda tribute that is built on the same chasis but there is the Ford escape which is exactly the same but sold under a different name in another country and I can get the fuel pump for one of those no problem but it's the electrics that I'm concerned about not working properly, how do I cross check a Nissan terranos fuel pump though?
Any help would be very appreciated like I said I can get an OE part from a scrappie up north £230 and honestly want to do things properly even if the part is worth more then the car but this Mondeo of the same year with the same engine from the same plant is going for £20,you know what I mean, thank you
Hello not sure if any one saw my last post but I was trying to source a fuel pump for 2001 ford maverick well I found one but had to fork out £250 on it,anyway I'm trying to fix this car up while on benifit but it's a real struggle lucky enough i'm staying in a hostel right next to a ford dealship and a scrap yard so I could be so what I'd like to know now is can I use a mass air flow sensor off a ford Mondeo 2.0 zetec? or even if I took a mass air flow sensor of a 2001 ford maverick but a 3.0...would it go faster? Or would it adjust the engine to incapatable ratio and do damage? Same goes for my fuel pump could I of fitted a ford mavrick 3.0 and put it in my 2.0 would it make it go faster? Or flood the spark? Does any one know what I mean? What I'm trying to get at is are there any ways of getting a better performance out of my 2002 ford maverick by using other parts from compatible fords? Or will it have a knock on negative effect? Also does any one know of a ford maverick in condition going cheap?
