Partners 58 plate fiesta is making creaking noises at the rear, mainly noticeable around town, any road unevenness, bar it seems square speed bumps taken one wheel at a time. Sounds awful, like the rear end is falling to bits

Garage who recently MOTed it and did the rear springs (snapped at the ends, and presumed to the cause) say it's the rear axle rubber bushes but not urgency as not metal on metal.

Verbal estimate of £150 a side based mainly on the hours.
Had thought of changing the car six months ago but have changed our mind and likely to keep it another few years.

Aside from the awful noise, if the garage right that this isn't an issue or going to do any damage? Would be easier to do the £300 in a month or two, but have the money in another account and I guess either way it will need doing eventually even to sell.

I think £150 a side seems a bit steep, the bushes are not expensive and any decent mechanic could do both in an hour with the proper tool.

The job is easy if you have the installing tool or a decent kit of bearing installers, the original Ford bushes are plastic and push out easily after a bit of drilling.

I would be inclined to shop around for a better price.

I have a mk7 fez st 2013. Just had mine done £200 both sides. Mine were creaking for months but as they got worse the car picked up a wicked rear end shimmy, scary at motorway speeds.

Right, so as expected, just needs doing. Will ring round for a few prices and either go with usual garage or not.

Thanks
