I have a 2014 Swift Sport which started to make a clunking noise on weight transfer. ( come off / on gas in lower gears)

Facts:
- car drivers fine
- clunk on weight transfer, worst in lower gears
- no clunk going over speed bumps or cornering.
- no clunk when not in gear and just break.
- Suzuki had a look at the car and they could not find the cause.
- other garage says lower gearbox mount has a slight play.
- car is 1.6 2014 with 44k miles.

Any clues where to look or how to figure out this?

I would say start by replacing that mount/bush

i took the car to suzuki to replace it, but they said it's fine. The garage who said it has a play wanted a whopping 440+VAT. 2.5 hours of labor. Rip off. Suzuki wants 1 hour labor but they say it's fine and no need to replace and i should wait for it get worse.

It may not be caused by weight transfer but something lose in the drivetrain which is moving with torque reversals. Check CV joints are tight in the hubs, and wheel bolts are all tight. Check bushes on lower wishbones, Check exhaust mounts.

Update: still have the problem, nobody can find the cause . frown

but made a new observation:

I had less clunks or almost none when temp was sub-0.
Now it's getting worse again as temp is on the up.

I guess it's something which gets tighter with the cold weather.

Still no idea what it could be.

Or less flexible.
Which might include the rubber part of a mounting.

Where is the "clunk" coming from?

Whether Suzuki say it is OK or not, I would be changing anything not right as only a very small amount of play is enough with 100bhp effort behind it.

that is the 1 million pound question. Nobody was able to identify the source of the clunk.
I was told to wait until it gets worse. lol
I cannot just start to replace all components random.

I mean where is it coming from, not what is the cause.

Front driver's wheel, front passenger wheel, rear driver's side, engine bay etc. etc. etc.

OK, just wait until the engine falls out then. wink Wrong answer

I am not saying replace all components at random, just the ones that are found at fault. As I said in my earlier post when you go on & off the accelerator there is alternately 100bhp pushing one way & then 1.3 tonnes pushing the other way. If a man can perceive play in a bush the car will make it 1000% worse.
