Probably been asked a million times but I have an engine light on my Alfa, thinking of buying a OBD reader, advice would be very welcome.

One that reads Japanese gray inported cars would be fab

My suggestion would be to buy one that covers all the ECUs (including airbags, ABS etc) and not just the engine. This does turn a £20 purchase into a £100 purchase but is well worth it the first time you get a wheel speed sensor failure or unplug a seat.

Got a recommendation?

I bought one of these. Pretty Good. Easy to use and reads everything including the owner’s manual in the glovebox.

Suitable for most cars built anywhere.

Just buy a cheap chinese bluetooth one from Ebay. I've had a few Konnwei ones which are less than a fiver and never had a problem.
Download the Torque Pro app for a couple of pounds and Bob's your uncle, sorted.
