Miss Rooster junior bought her dad a solar panel charger for his birthday in November. It plugs into the OBD socket and - so far - has kept the MX-5 battery charged for seven weeks.

It is perhaps fortunate that the panel faces due South with nothing to shade it, and we have had lots of very bright sunshine but it has proved a very useful solution.

I would like to keep my car battery in good condition during the months the car just sits. Guessing that having a CTEK connected at all time would be the best (not possible today since no outlets available where I have the car).
Would the solution suggested by TS; using a (cheap) powerbank/powerstation (like https://www.amazon.co.uk/NOVOO-Portable-22500mAh-E... to power a CTEK MXS 5.0 be worth it (or enough) in this case?

Has anyone tried this solution and can give some feedback/advice?

Or should I just go and buy the CTEK CS Free (why no quick connectors?)?
Or keep using two extension cords, across the street, once a month during winter to charge my 997..(I have a CTEK MXS 5.0 that I use this way today)?
Came across this thread whilst researching the topic about CTEK and power banks. Re why no quick connectors with the CTEK CS Free I have been in contact with CTEK about that subject (in connection with a solar panel charging topic). The answer from CTEK is that the quick connectors are too thin for the power output of the CS Free. CTEK told me that to connect a CS Free to any sort of battery you need to use the crocodile clip leads which are thicker and will take the power.
