Any one used them and are they as good as the sales videos suggest.
I,m experienced in old school gas welding / brazing but some 40 years out of touch with modern techniques rods etc.I have no welding equipment (blow lamp only )and at my age don’t want to invest. For general Iight weight use / none structural .Dissimilar metals may be brass to steel etc.

In my opinion Arc welding is not the all in one metal joining solution. Ac arc welding produces a lot of splatter, DC is cleaner but still not suitable for thin metal. It will either heavily warp or blow holes straight through thin stuff as it produces a lot of heat. However if working with thick metal it is a good choice, perfect.

I'm not a welder but do own a dc arc welder with various flux coated welding rods. It's no good for thin metal. My welder has a tig function but never had time to practice it. Tig can do thin metal but it needs gas, just like mig

I have arc welded car panels but arc welders are designed for thicker joints so it is tricky and you need a really smooth / good machine - I used an Oxford oil cooled welder that adjusted down enough. MIG is so much faster and easier for car panel and chassis work

Under MOT rules you cant use brazed joints / repairs to or near structural areas if you are thinking about using brazing rods with your blowtorch. I'm not sure it would produce enough heat anyway.

I think the OP is on about the flux cored low temperature aluminium rods that promise a fantastic weld between non ferous metals, as he does not mention arc welding at all.

I am sceptical about the claims OP, especially with any claims to welding dissimilar metals.

For something like a small article of brass to steel I would be looking at soldering them, using silver solder and Baker's Fluid flux.

He talks of using a blow torch so I also think he means this sort of thing:

Quite how they get away with calling them 'welding rods' is beyond me as they are no different to soldering/brazing/silver soldering & certainly aren't welding.
