MOT Pass or Fail? Replacement Part Help

Hello all,

First of all, please excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to cars and such. It’s not my area of expertise.

In a bit of a tangle. I’ve got an Astra GTC 64 plate, automatic. My gear knob broke about 8 months ago, the silver latch broke / fell off the one that I push in to change from park to drive / reverse. So for 8 months I’ve taped it up and it’s been a “botch” job replacement. Firstly, am I going to fail my MOT next week? I completely forgot about my MOT until a few days ago...

Secondly, can somebody help me source a replacement? Vauxhall have told me they’d have to replace the entire base which would cost 700 pounds. I don’t want to take that route...

On eBay I’m seeing parts, for Safiras, Opal, Insignias, and I think my GTC is an Opal J?? I’m not sure.

I’ve just ordered this part. Is this sufficient? I don’t want to wrag mine off and try fitting one that doesn’t work :/

i don’t think it would fail the mot and if that part looks like yours then it should fine to swap over
