Hi all,

I removed the air box off my mini to spray the gear linkage with WD40 so the gear shift is so stiff (video on YouTube showed me how) and as I took the airbox off, the rubber intake bit ripped.

The car is parked in an awkward spot which means I need to move it.

Is it wise to turn the engine on and how badly have i fked it? :I

Gaffer tape it back together. Should be ok for a few miles. Replace the hose as soon as convenient.

Bit of duct tape arpund it and move it so you can replace.

Chances of doing any damage over a short period of time is negligible if you are just moving it around the corner.

Is the rubber pre or post filter?

If pre, just move it as is and replace it. If post, duct tape to stop any debris getting in.

Tape and then new part. Looks there is not enough length/convolutions for engine rock.

Thanks for the help everyone ! Thankfully not as bad as I thought.

It’s funny though and always the case, you decide to get your hands dirty to fix something and end up breaking something in the process and diverting all your attention to that
