I recently took my glovebox out and had to disconnect the passenger airbag as a result. I forgot to disconnect the battery, so the airbag light has come on and doesn’t go away.

I bought an OBD II scanner in the hopes that I would be able to reset it but it doesn’t bring back any codes.

Does anyone know any ways around this or any cheap OBD’s which will do the job?

The car is a Seat Ibiza Mk4 2013.

Thanks

Have you tried disconnecting the battery to see if it clears?

If that doesn't work then I believe OBDEleven car clear airbag faults.

Just take it to your local garage, they will likely do it for a few beer tokens if asked nicely.

Or ask nicely here, someone close to you may be able to do it.

I did the same years ago on a SKoda Fabia,

I ended up get a VW group scanner that could reset the AIrbag light.

As others have suggested though, if you have a friendly local mechanic, they should be able to reset it.

None of the OBD2 (OBD II) engine scanners will do airbag, well I've not seen any.

OBDelelven will, I have that but its not 'cheap'

When I bought my cheap scanner (code-reader) they made it clear that it does engine management only, not airbags or anti-lock brakes. You need a more expensive one for those.

Autel AL619

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autel-AutoLink-AL619-Diag...

I bought one of these 7-8 years ago and used it to clear airbag lights (and EML, abs lights) on quite a few cars such as VW Golf, Mini's, Audi Q5, Q7, S5, Porsche 911 (996 & 997), BMW Z4, Impreza WRX to name a few. It's been a super handy tool and more useful than i ever expected.

Not sure the 619 does, but others might.
