I recently returned to my car (Audi A3 66 plate) to find someone had bumped into my driver side door. They have left a nasty scratch on the door handle and lower part of the door. I was going to get the dent fixed by chips away but they said they can’t do it as there is a sensor on the door handle, recommended I go to a body shop.

Is it work trying another dent repair place or will this be an issue everywhere? Just had the door resprayed a few months ago so keen to keep costs low! Thanks.

Smart repairer is about right, he would need to strip that part down which is what bodyshops do and why they take ages.

Have you tried compound buffing that out with a DA polisher?
