Yes but technically an MOT fail if the tester is a bit anal.

That's yes to the Philips, Osram etc, not the Chinese ste.

This the main brand ones are allright but still illegal.

So have have reflectors or projector type headlights?

Projector's would be a lot easy to hide the lights in,

Fit a set of Osram Nightbreaker Laser bulbs, they’ve transformed the lighting on my cars and being halogen are still perfectly legal.

Led works well in my boxster fog lights. Rubbish as headlight.

If the headlight wasn't designed for HIDs or LEDs then technically it's an automatic MOT fail. It's because the headlight isn't designed to focus the beams in the right way.

I've converted cars to run HID and LED but on both occasions, the headlight was designed for their use (one they were optional in later years the other customer headlights).

If the car never had these as an option, you'll get much better performance from an uprated halogen bulb. As above go for something name-brand.

I changed the candles on my 2018 Connect to Twenty20 leds from HIDS4U in Southampton. Not cheap, but same beam pattern as standard and massively brighter than standard. I did high and low beams, sidelights and fog lights. Very happy with the appearance and performance.
