So what’s the next step?

Is there a way to remove the bolts & get a full replacement set or can a new one be ordered that will fit? (Is anti theft just more inconvenience?)

You can try hammering on a slightly smaller normal socket or take it to an engineering firm and ask them to weld one on.

If it's factory, your dealership will have one (and can order a replacement).

Unles they're particularly valuable wheels, once the old bolts are off, why not replace them with standard ones.

Your local Audi dealer/specialist might have a 'master' socket (assuming they're Audi locking nuts/bolts) to remove them without damaging them.

I did this in January, changed a wheel and left the locking wheel nut socket by the side of the road.
I went to the Audi main dealer and they bought out a case with twenty different sockets in it.
Found the correct one and ordered me one up which came with a new bolt as well, £60 😩 but better than trying to drill it off and then I bought another of the web

Thank for the swift responses, all is not lost it seems.
Will continue looking but good to know there’s an option out there.

On my previous 2 cars & current car I have replaced the 4 locking bolts & 16 plain bolts with the grey or black plastic covers with 20 plain enclosed chrome bolts that cost me £20 for the set. Looks better & not the inconvenience of locking bolts that are often ruined by clumsy mechanics & tyre fitters.

Refit original locking + plain bolts & covers when getting rid of the car.

You can buy a reverse socket that will grip the head of the nut and tighten itself on as you undo it.

I had the problem with our C Max recently, ordered a replacement from Ford but it wasn't the correct one so in the end one of the local tyre centres chiselled them off all wheels and replaced with ordinary nuts.

It is not worth getting caught out with a flat tyre that you can't get off which will always happen at the most inconvenient time and place.

McGard? Email a good pic of the nut/bolt end on and of your V5 and they will supply a key.

If they are OEM then itll be very quick and easy as it is typical to only supply 20x different variations.

All as told to me by their tech manager at Autosport a couple of years ago.

Not another security wheel nut thread!!

Any decent tyre bay will be able to remove all four. Then bin them and fit normal wheel bolts.
Locking wheel bolts are a waste of time and cause more grief and hassle than all the other car problems put together.
