As title.
Anyone know what the name of this style fitting is?
The little black bit at the end moves. I assume to make a seal?
It's not the usual AN type fitting I'd expect from an oil feed to turbo.

FFS bro your fingers look like they have been mauled by a baby tiger.

It looks like a check valve to me. Car and model and where it came from?

When people ask me why I don't save £1000 and do the work myself, I will refer them to the above photo.

In which case it will be a valve to stop oil draining back I would have thought.

Nothing a bit of healing cream (oil) won't fix

The fitting itself looks like an ordinary DIN style bubble flare fitting. The floating part in it is probably a restrictor to limit the flow of oil to the turbo. These are commonly used to stop the oil supply from over-pressuring the turbo seals. If you're replacing the line I suspect you'll find it can be removed from the old line and inserted in the new one before you assemble the joint.

I tried to find a car meet today and got stuck in traffic for an hour so gave up. That's what a sense of adventure gets you. Traffic jams and bloody fingers.

Why is everyone upset about op’s finger?

Work on cars and a bit of blood is inevitable. That’s not even a fleshwound!

I’m happy to bleed a bit for a grand.

I once did a job my Mrs had been quoted several £1000s for for just £300 in parts and a few hours of my time. We're going on holiday with the money we saved (eventually... Still haven't booked it!)

Also, why are you in the Home Mechanics forum if you have such precious hands? biglaugh

I too will go on a £1000s holiday at some point in my life. wink

Good question. No idea why it's showing. Maybe because I did do something fairly straightforward on my car and got to keep my bodily fluids inside myself. biggrin

I'm definitely going to shine a black light around my car to check the previous owner didn't leave any... Although as it's a Lexus the most likely fluid will be accidental wee, second most likely will be denture cleaner.

Well, hopefully, it won't involve any DIY.
