Rock solid. Though I still put heel ( if removed) under the sills as an extra safeguard. Just in case.
You remove part of your foot & put it under the sill?https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-VS2003-Stands-Capa...

Ratchet stands are obviously easier to deploy since you don't need to mess around with lining holes up and installing the pin. But you need to be careful because some poor quality ones don't ratchet reliably which can lead to them collapsing under load.
What! Is there some evidence of these stands collapsing under load?Someone who manufactures or sells stands that collapse are going to be in prison pretty quick!
Bit late to the party but I'd have another set of Halfords orange if I were you - I have 4x of them and very happy, if they crack I'll just have another set at the money.
I've used ratchet stands in the past, but after a year or so of use I found that any shift in the weight while jacking up the car often let the ratchet self-release, with poo-inducing results. Now I'll only use pinned stands.

There was a big issue with Harbor Freight in the US selling dodgy axle stands: https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/consumer-advi...Someone who manufactures or sells stands that collapse are going to be in prison pretty quick!
