I moved in to a house just a bit further down the hill a few years ago and we couldn't get a LWB transit round that corner in one go. Most days I would see arguments between motorists when one couldn't get round and caused an obstruction...

Somewhat embarrassing, although I can honestly say as someone who's never used a tt nav, if I did that it would be entirely my fault.

Im not a fan of them at all, you dont learn the route with the bloody things for one.

I'll only use one if I have to go into the city, and even then I prefer a map on the steering wheel/lap.

Far safer than txting.....

They can be indispensable tools, as long as you don't follow them slavishly. If there are low bridge warnings, weight restrictions, or if the road it's trying to send you down just doesn't look right, then don't go down there.

I've been seeing more and more big yellow "DON'T FOLLOW YOUR SAT NAV" signs aimed at HGV drivers for potentially troublesome routes.

but also less safe than having a small, moving map of exactly where you are up mounted in a discreet place on the windscreen with audio directions telling you where to go....

reading a map on your own is either:

A - more time consuming because you have to pull over, find exactly where you are and plan ahead for a while; that, and you need to carefully plan a route before hand. sat nav - put in the post code (or click on the map and say "go to" in my case), check the route looks reasonable and job done.

or

B - more dangerous - reading a map whilst driving!!

i've used sat navs for a good 5 years now and wouldn't go back. coupled with google street view it's bloody fantastic.

So how do you think they will get it out of there then?

Split it then crane the trailer out if it's really wedged tight in there

What the video does not show is the cars parked either side of the road. I'm impressed that he got it up that far in the first place.

I drove up there for the first time yesterday, in an MX5, and that was tight enough!
