Hello, hoping you guys can help me out here, having asked my father what he would like for Christmas as he is awful to buy for he suggested something to help pass the time in the cab when on overnights or just waiting to be unloaded or whatever, he already uses a kindle for reading material but finds it can sometimes make him feel sleepy.
I have come across this.

Has anyone else got one of these? Are they any good? and is that website the best place to get one from? Any other suggestions of makes?
Any help would be great, thanks.

If you do .factor in a better aeriel .
Will need something that boosts the signal if used in a truck. the choice will be limited if it is to be moved from truck to truck or a permenant fitting .

looks a nice unit, but as grumpy said, think you'll need to look into better aerials.
i have a 19 lcd tv with built in dvd player that i use when i'm away, but only watch dvds and play xbox so not sure what aerial to suggest. i can ask my mate what he uses if you like, or try CDC who do lots of goodies for trucks and truck drivers.

If you don't mind asking, that you be great thank you.
He does not use the same wagon every time afaik so it couldn't be a permanent fixture or I would look at getting something more solid and mountable.
Cheers for the replies, I will take a look at CDC.

The mag mount one's that look like a black dome topped tube seem to work well. I have asked a couple of drivers who use them and they have given good reports.
Also be sure to use the correct power source most fag lighter sockets are not upto it but most trucks have extra sockets and you just need the correct connector

I will make sure whatever we get either comes with, or will buy a decent antenna to go with it thank you.
He drives new or new ish artics so I would hope they would have all the required sockets etc.

I know you said your dad's kindle makes him sleepy, but have you considered the kindle fire?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/kindle-fire-tablet-amazon-...
It will let him watch films, read books, etc from what I understand. However I'm not massivly up on the tech stuff, so this could be a terrible recomendation!
HTH! biggrin

spoke to my mate, the one he has is called, "omnimax" he says he tried several first, but this is by far the best, he raves about it. he also said alot of the drivers at his place are raving about a new aerial on the market, its called the, "avtex".
both are available on the cdc site, omnimax is approx 90 quid, and the avtex approx 45 quid.
when i do the tour work, some of the lads have sky, i kid you not smile
