Thanks R0G, it's purely 'off road' I'm looking for as he has no intention of getting a license for it.
trev, is your dad available sunday nights???bung me a nifty, and he can join me for the ultimate truck driving experience, where i will let him, "live the dream!!!!"
for a small fee, he gets to drive a fully freighted truck from the land of the white stilletto, well jell and "SHUT UP." to the various delights of smithfield meat market, (cor blimey guvnor.)
the experience will give the ol man at least 3 hours driving time with fully supervised tuition, (well i'll be shouting instructions from the bunk whilst snoozing) of piloting an 18 wheeled semi, with his pedal to the metal, 18 wheels down and rolling, whilst looking for "bears in the air" or gatsos as mores the case.
the experience is much better in the festive period, as not only will the "ol man" get to experience the normal delights of ol london tarn, black cabs, buses and pizza bikes, but this time of year we have the added bonus of, "antler watch" where he'll get to avoid various, pissed up "mooses" staggering down the middle of the road, post xmas parties!
as part of this once in a lifetime, "billy big wheels" experience, your dad will get to learn all the finer points of the job.
things like,
leaving your manners at home
the correct wearing of a check shirt, cowboy boots/hat and a furry wallet on a chain.
he will be taught correct booking in/out procedures, (an ancient code of grunting.)
how to perform an emergency stop on the hard shoulder, leap out, piss up the n/side wheel, and get going again, all in 30 seconds.
elephant racing.
blind side reversing, and many, many more.
this is a once in a lifetime offer, (it really is )
please fill out the enclosed online form, expressing obvious interest, and when booking, please tick all boxes to make sure you are fully aware that, we except no responsibility what so ever for death/injury caused to your recipient/jo bloggs the general public, whilst he/she is on the billy big wheels, night of a lifetime experience.
also, remember to check small print, as you are liable to bring the scran for the night, not just for your recipient, but also their skilled trip host, who insists on cheese and mustard sarnies, a flask of strong coffee, and of course a yorkie bar!
please make payment, as swiftly in advance as possible, i mean like now, you know a.s.a.p
sorry, pay,(not my fooking) pal currently unavailable.
money transfer, to our well built company director is accepted, but currently only via our nigerian office
we hope you enjoy your gift.
ho, ho, ho.
sorry, thats now just ho, ho, we've just murdered another one.

In devon though, buy him a clotted cream cake too
I think airfield stuff is probably the way to go.
Aye, that's the same Steve Robertson I mentioned in my post but I couldn't find his website, only via a referral site.In devon though, buy him a clotted cream cake too

He's a top bloke, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

In conclusion to this thread, I got in touch with SimonSpider and he's arranged for a 30min (ish) session instead of their usual 15min session. All done and dusted
Thanks for the help
Might interest you chaps to know that over 80% of the customers that do our truck driving experiences are women! Never been able to work out why. We had an 83 year old last year. And we get loads of retired HGV drivers too. Thought they'd have had enough! Thanks for the help
