Morning Sultans of the slow lane... 
Watching an episode of Emergency Bikers and they were helping move a Hercules transport plane accross Wiltshire, watching it negotiate Wooton Bassett and the surrounding lanes, very impressive, 44ton trucks are big enough, let alone some of the massive loads I see transported
Made me think, what kind of training and licence do you need to drive these kinds of things?

i'd imagine you'd get a job there starting on the smaller "normal" stuff, and work your way up. big old lump that 
i think this type of work would prob be at the better end of the pay scale too.
there is a firm in suffolk, "h.c.wilson" who do some interesting stuff, i've seen stuff on the truck forums and it appears to be dead mans shoes to get in.
i was in tilbury last night, and noticed a couple of a.l.e wagons, i'm back down there tonight, if anything interesting has turned up i'll see if i can get a pic or 2

In Belgium on Saturday afternoon i saw the longest long load EVER.
It was no joke in my estimation 40 to 50 metres long.
There was 2 trucks the same stopped in this rest area and if i wasn't doing 130 Ks at the time
i would have deffo pulled in for a pic.
They were LONG.
No idea what thet were.

Length wise I'm not 100%; but at least double my wagon, so that would be 33 metres at least!!!
I'm in Luxembourg till sunday, but then off to Ostrava so if I spot any on route I, ll try and get a pic or 2
As mentioned before it is part of the main body for a wind turbine .
As for getting into this line of work dead mans shoes as they say i started off on the smaller stuff and worked my way up and i was very fortunate to be given the training which is not a weeks course started for the company years ago started on rigids then onto class 1 and over size extending trailers and then did the escorting and genreal dogs body laying mats etc and basicly just learnnt and trained and work your way up in the company but is very rewarding and i certanitly do not see myself looking for further employment i very much fell on my feet as they say .
If anyone thinks it is a easy job and all glamour couldnt be further from the truth it is a lot of graft behind the scenes some loads take months of planning as mistakes can not happen take a wrong turn then your in serios bother accidents happen offten no matter how many escort and police there is some fool will try get past .

Spotted another big un today,again no pics
....M25 clockwise at J4 about 10.30am,
something so heavy that it also had a "pusher" behind it .
I was travelling anti clock at the time.....then......going home again about 7.30pm it's
now sitting in Clackett lane service area with the unit detached and if i had known it was
there i would have got a pic[again]
