I dont do inside the M25 normally but tomorrow ive got to go to Tulse Hill. SW2 3DH to be precise.

My 1st drop will be in Slough, and then on to Tulse Hill. Now looking at the map im thinking jump on the M25 come round to the A3 and that pretty much takes me all the way in to where i want to be.

Does this look the best way or am i pissing in the wind? Also whats going to be best time to think about hitting the A3?

Many thanks in advance.

Been ages since I have been around that way so I cant help you with the traffic situation, but I can tell you there's a low bridge just past where you are going on the 205.

its abit of a toughie.
when you look on the map, the a3 is the way to go, for shortest most direct route.
anywhere inside the m25 on a friday daytime could be fun, and the a3, and onto the a205, which is the south circular road, is going to be pretty busy i'd guess.
if it were me, the only other option i'd even consider would be up the a23 into london, drops you right near where you want to be, and most times should be less congested. but guessing its to far round for ya???

either way, don't envy you smile

I did look at the A23 but did kind of think its abit far round. and im guessing if i went M4 id hit the banned bit?

So far my plan goes like this, get to Slough, 45 min break, poa it till gone 9am, set off.

Either way london on a fri is not how i want to end my working week but this is what ive been given.

And like i say dont normally go inside the M25.

Derbyshire, Near Foston prison to be exact, so the mornings plan is to set off between half 3 and 4am. thus hoping for a clear run down the M40.

Im not looking forward to it but ive figured the only thing i can do is plan as much as i can and give myself plenty of time allowances etc. And then just HOPE.

its all you can do mate.
once your tipped and ready for home, if the m25 is crappy round that side, at least you have options, of skirting the outer edge of london to get back on the m40.

Do drops in London all the time and would go either A3 - A205 South Circular. Or up the A23.

The other day I had a load into West Molesey and went in off the M3 sunbury turn off towards Hampton Court and then decided to 'explore' and came out through Esher on to the A3. biggrin

If it was me, I would go A3 to raynes park then across 298 to the 24 up to the 205 or cut the last bit over tooting bec road and up the 23. I spent quite a bit of time around that way about 6 years ago, so dont know what it is like now but I would have thought that if you go up the A3 thats the way sat nav will take you anyway.

After 9am it will be moving OK, by 10 it will be free flowing (depending if there's anything being dug up anywhere) Gets a little tight around Merton but its the same everywhere around there, just take 2 lanes whenever you feel the need as if you give them an inch they'll squeeze in at the first opportunity.

I wouldnt bother with the M4 because of the weight limit, the A23 is too far around to make it worthwhile from the 25.

Yea best way is the A3 and if you go in off the A3, on the way back you can follow the A3 - A31 - A331 into Aldershot.

Cheers chaps, Ill head for the A3 regardless of the sat nav, its a snooper one anyway with all the bridge heights etc on it, so it ll pick me up.

So as per my plan of sticking it on poa for a while, im now thinking of setting off from Slough about 915 ish? thus leaving me some time for the traffic to die down.

ive only been given the postcode but have been told its a school thats being renovated. ive looked on street view earlier and can see a school on the road that looks like a building site but thats from May 12.

Suppose it could be the same school.

Hi, my day went as follows. made Slough in 248 mins, had a 45 break.

Pulled out of Slough parked in a layby just before you get on the M4, poa till half 9.

Set off in the end i risked the M4 down to junc 2 then followed the signs for s,circular (A205).

Got in did the drop and came out toward Wimbledon on to the A3, just as i hit the A3 i had a look at my drive time and had done 150 mins.

Which i was quite impressed with as i was expecting the worse, anyway did the rest of my run and made it back up the M40 to Warwick services for the night with about 23 mins driving left on a 9 hour day.

Most impressive thing i saw on my way in was the Audi dealers showroom as you go down the M4.
