Cosy in a two Ton truck? I'd buy shares in Mr Clutch first. wink

Would have to be a V8 at least but...

IT'S ALIVE!

woohoo

Okay the immobiliser is still a pain and I need to remote start it but it starts thank's to something so simple I'd overlooked it.

Long gone are the days when Diesel had a shelf life. There are stories about twenty year old barn finds starting first turn of a key with a new battery in place, but when people started stock piling fuel during the last crisis they were warned to use it within a year or risk damaging their engines. I was busying myself with complicated stuff like the wiring loom, immobiliser and crap when it was the fuel that was the problem. So I emptied the fuel filter of what I can only describe as urine after a night on Tequila as far as colour and smell goes.

So armed with a can a couple of bits of pipe...

...I bypassed the urine filled fuel filter.

A couple of splutters and the old blunder bus came to life. smile

No I'm feeling conflict as I think this is the first time ever I am pleased to hear a cement mixer engine running.

Fair to say the eBay vultures have been chased away and the project is back on. smile

He works for Ford so what do you expect?

The fuel pump relay is now wired to the switched live at the back of the stereo and as the starter still won't turn from the key I'm thinking of a floor mounted button to do that like the main beam switch on Morris Minors. That could work. wink

If the cut off button on the floor of the old merc trucks are anything to go by you dont want to stick it there, I would push that atleast twice a day without meaning to.

Fair points, a push button on the dash would be too obvious to potential thieves and it will need to be somewhere out of the way. Like a Mini floor starter right on the edge of bulkhead near the centre of the cab. With it being a three seater I have plenty of room. smile

So now the thing starts I can get back on schedule.

Unbolted and removed the back of the chassis...

...ready to start thinking about beaver.

Only one bolt sheered. smile

They're junk though because the threads were so rusty they chewed off.

I've had another idea and will MS Paint it after a beer or six. wink

I was thinking of hinging the bed...

...so I can raise it to aid loading and lower it to give a good centre of gravity on the road. smile

Yep this kind of stupid idea is what happens when you syphon Diesel just after breakfast. wink

Similar to what I was thinking.

Modern Diesel has a twelve month shelf life.

http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/australia...

So all those Diesel powered vehicles you get in Zombie Apocalypse films would be useless.

How cheap and basic do you want to be? Shirley a spring would work in the same way, and would provide amusement for when you are getting home after a few beers
