Getting the most from my driving hours.
Discussion
Sorry for the delay on replies, busy week!
After a reduced rest last weekend, my boss seems to think i can take a second week of reduced rest this week, with me catching up next weekend on my rest (i needed a 4 day weekend anyways as i have plans). However, NOWHERE can i find anything that says i can take 2 weeks reduced rest on the trot, catching up on the third week. So since i finished at 1pm today, i'll have to tell him i cant start till 10am on Monday. Then paying back my rest with my 3 and a bit day weekend next week.
Can you jog my memory on the RTD (WTD) rules? I might know them under a none acronym name?

Do you have a smart phone OP?
There's some really good driver timer apps in the app store for free or cheap. My Android one was free and does daily/weekly/fortnightly hours. The GPS feature doesn't seem to work on mine though so I have to remember to stop it!
I do, and i got a timer app. I just have not really used it, as i use my smart phone as a satnav, and a gps speedo (because those mph digits are so tiny all the way down there) plus faffing about with it when i'm not driving. There's some really good driver timer apps in the app store for free or cheap. What I can suggest is posting what you have done or intend to do and then asking if it legally ok

As you are working for a small employer then I doubt they will bother with RTD (WTD) rules - the authorities aint bothered at all about them
Hi Rog, basically, they run me as much as they can, seeing how many trips from yorkshire to scotland and back i can squeeze in a week, its all quite flexible, but quite fast paced, i dont mind, i'd rather be doing big distance days than spending half a day waiting to tip at some processing place somewhere only to be told my load of potato had failed the sample test meaning i have to take them somewhere less fussy....

Does your job fall under this exemption -
Vehicles used or hired without a driver by agricultural,
horticultural, forestry, farming or fishery undertakings
for carrying goods as part of their own entrepreneurial
activity within a radius of 100 km from the base of the undertaking.
???????????
No, i'm basically taking loads of potatos from scotland to yorkshire and below, at least for the next few months.Vehicles used or hired without a driver by agricultural,

RTD rules include the average 48 hour working week = your bosses headache because you are not expected to be a maths genius
What usually affects a driver is the breaks for the working time done in a shift but with your work it should all be covered by your driving time breaks
Work/Working time means driving + other work added together which is not the same as shift/duty time
No driver shall work more than 6 hours at any time in a shift without a break of at least 15 mins
If the work time in a shift is between 6 and 9 hours then breaks totalling 30 mins must be taken
OR - not both
If the work time in a shift is over 9 hours then breaks totalling 45 mins must be taken
Breaks must be at least 15 mins long and breaks can count for both RTD and EU driving time breaks but the driving time break rules take preference
Now you can forget all that unless your boss is bothered because the authorities have not been for well over the 5 years since it was started !!

Deal. to be fair, i dont think i've ever had it on "other work" for more than an hour. So i will struggle to get to the time required for it. Thanks.Gassing Station | Commercial Break | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
