Trouble is, this driver will now be in deep st, Tesco will not be happy about this and will be demanding action of the transport manager, their name has been seen in a negative light.

One interesting comment in the commens to the link was that as the truck had in fact turned left then made a U turn, it wasnt illegal...........

Couldnt be arsed to bother with google, but interesting nevertheless. Either way, no big deal in my opinion.

DM picture comment- "The lorry careens round the corner, as the pedestrian runs to avoid the vehicle"

Correction- Lorry makes slow, legal, u-turn using rear steering which only operates a low speed while pedestrian has ample time to safely cross.

Its no wonder most rational members of society hate the daily mail...

Seems perfectly fine to me he made two seperate moves and iirc there are no signs on that part of the road saying no u-turns bet he was probaly delivering to the tesco petrol station near the bow flyover whilst driving rigids in the city have seen quite a few cabs do the same move and have never seen them on the daily fail website

Bloke filming it was sat in a box junction when the exit wasn't clear.
I'm wondering how it was being filmed ?, driver illegaly holding up his mobile phone maybe ?, as someone has mentioned if this had been a Taxi no one would have batted an eye lid.

Poor (skilled) driver is f*cked, Daily Mail = scum, glad i'm off the damned roads and driving a Terberg.

I find it incredible that the driver involved could be banned and lose his job for that.

Not sure why you say he could be banned and lose his job, did I miss something, or is this your thoughts.

The plank who entered the box junction without his exit being clear should be done me thinks.

[quote=Vipers]My take is he was lost, realised he needed to turn right, it wasn't a no entry, just do not turn right.

May have been following his sat nav which indicated a right turn, who knows.

Well executed, minimal impact, the guy walking the road wasn't in any danger in my opinion, as already the plank who stopped in the box to film him.

Cannot use sat-nav at Tesco. Gross misconduct = fired if caught. None of us use it at (name of DC near Purfleet)

It was disgusting, outrageous driving.

People just couldn't believe what was going on, it's such a dangerous part of London, especially to be driving so recklessly.
Anyone who has driven anything around London will know that it is full of "Oh fk!" moments when you suddenly realize you are not allowed to do the manoeuvre you need to do and it is not obvious what the alternative is. Sometimes the best you can do, right there and then, is just get it over with and hope that people are understanding.

Not small minded busybodies with cameras. rolleyes
We get a risk assessment giving us an LTBS route to each store. If we deviate from the route we MUST complete a form providing the reason from deviating from the RA. I cannot think of any reason a 10m trailer needs to turn right in that location. Obviously an agency driver, not one of us good drivers.

And that could be it then. Or his first trip into London?

Sorry my comment in regard to the comment in the story that the driver could be facing prosecution and as result lose his job.

One other observation that ties in with VIPER's point that the driver looks lost , if you look closely at the road sign at the junction it appears to give the option of NO RIGHT TURN and NO +7.5T lorry access sign.

It is quite likely the driver was directed down the road by his SatNav and upon getting to the junction realised he couldn't turn left as it may result in him getting stuck on a unsuitable road and according to the sign he couldn't turn right but that looked like the most sensible option of the two.

Sad no-life moron stops in box junction to film a lorry performing a safely executed maneuver, meanwhile a pedestrian crosses a road away from a designated crossing - sees the truck turning slowly and hurries up to get out of the way.

Doesn't make much of a headline, does it?

I did a day at Morrisons before Christmas as our normal work was quiet and was handed routes planned out for each individual store, 'you have to follow these routes, phone in if you have to divert, trailers have trackers in them, blah blah'. Every route is planned coming in from the M25, so are you expecting me to drive from my first drop in Camden to the second in Harrow and then the third in Acton via the M25 each time?

dheads.
