I wouldn’t have a Merc due to the cost and also the rampant rust issues although I’m unaware if they’ve sorted the issue with newer models

Rust issues were resolved a good few years ago. MB are more expensive up front, but claw that back with while life costs and things like Mobilo that replace mirrors, lights, wipers etc free of charge

Looks like the ‘new’ Vivaro is just a version of the Dispatch/Proace/Expert, seems a step down in class/size but makes sense now it’s owned by PSA. I guess Renault/Fiat/Niassan will continue with the Trafic etc.

Hi all, first post. Looking for a new van to replace my current vivaro sportive 120 which I've had from new since Jan 15 on a 64 plate. What's everyone currently rate as the best new medium sized van out there?

I Would consider having another Vivaro or same van variant as it's simply the comfiest van I've ever driven distance in. Period. It has some good stuff going on. However I'm test driving a current transit custom soon, and well to be blunt, I've been quite unlucky and feel somewhat let down by this particular vivaro for a variety of reasons, so I might change brands.

Van has 70k today.
New o/s rear d-pillars, rear doors and o/s side panels at 4,5k after a transit custom rear ended me doing 80mph to my 58mph on the M25. He drove away with a smashed headlight. No joke. I was towed to a garage and saw my van again 4,5 months later after back orders on parts. Replaced panels got keyed 3 weeks after I got van back, by a road raging Chelsea tractor driving road nazi. Since then it's cost me a fortune for a numer of reasons unfortunately.

Van had horrible flat spot in 1st and 2nd from new. Had a private remap done by a mobile mapper at 20k in order to smooth out power delivery and eke out a few more mpg, he evidently spiked the voltage across the ecu, which ended up in a failed DPF....
...Had DPF delete and professional bench map done at 26k. Straight through power, not good for asthma sufferers. Now back legal and sits at 166ps with 408 torques. Smooth power delivery, pulls well under load or not, combined real life mpg currently hovers at 30mpg, but I am now uphill and down dale a lot more living in the country, previously I was around London and averaged combined 37mpg. With 41mpg in constant eco mode over 2500k. I'm a carpenter joiner and van is mainly half loaded, with very occasional towing of max load.
Van handled great, at first.
At 20k or so I started to feel more vibration and it started to dive under braking, and not return to straight when cornering. Body roll was also considerable.
Vauxhall replaced front strut bearings, front shocks and springs at 20k under warranty, front shocks replaced again at 32k with defective oil seals. Again done under warranty.
2nd set of strut bearings and 3rd set of front shocks at 70k,
Two sets of rear shocks and springs from new, first set changed at 30k ish along with addition of helper springs to help with unevenly distributed loads causing n/s tyre wear issues.
On 4th set of conti front tyres and
3rd set of rears from new.
Van is now on it's third set of front discs. I changed to pagid discs with brembo pads last time at around 50k to try to prolong brake life.
I was told by Vauxhall that the 20k I got out of my 1st set of front pads was quite good pad life for a vivaro, I wasn't expecting about the same mileage on disc life. Ive never had less than 30k out of a set of front pads on any van before. I usually get 50k plus on discs. Even my old Sherpa, and that got abused. Pagids seem better so far.
Anyone had any similar issues? Or should the insurance company have done me a favour and written this one off at 4,5k?

Currently running one of these for work.
2018 125 bi turbo with adblue Renault trafic.

Engine very strong, plenty of go and never feels underpowered.
Interior a nice place to be, good Bluetooth stereo and useful storage in the car.
Exterior is plain but the metal bodywork is like tin.
Drives very well, feels like a large car, can handle VERY well, surprising!
Gear change not the best.
Has managed 30k miles on the front tyres.
Van has been in a few times as adblue, egr and minor electrical faults under warranty, ball joints have failed and front shocks are making noises.
Buy one with warranty, they are cheap for a reason!

First MOT on my 120 Trafic today

All good. Im on 57k now with no issues at all.
Cant get more than 40mpg but thats ok

Mines on original discs an pads but front pads are about done.

Much better than the Vito it replaced!!

I've just brought 3x Traffics for work, bog standard white swb models @ £14,895k +vat each, cheap vans and if I get more than 5 years out of them then it's a bonus.

They seem pretty well screwed together, I wouldn't swap my T6 for one, but as a work horse they are dirt cheap.

We used to get basic ones at £11995+VAT pre-reg, but it seems Renault have knocked the pre-reg deals on the head.

They were great value at that, with the balance of a 4 years warranty too.

I noticed it's 3 years now, but still 100,000 miles.

They look quite good all wrapped up with our company logo on them.

Hi.
I've had a carpark full of traffic vans. and my summery is as follows;
buying an older van. 06-14 buy 2.0 sport or sport nav must be the m9 engine. no cam belt to change economical to run good load capacity.
newer 14-19 avoid 1.6 as have a history of the injectors getting seized in the head. They also tend to smoke black when injectors start to fail.
new 19-on waiting for a new black edition (145) as Renault have fitted the m9 engine again.
however i have been awaiting delivery since 5th march and still no sign of it arriving so if you want one then expect a very long wait.

Just ordered a new sportnav, been told August delivery,£18,100 + vat with rear camera,didn't think that was a bad price?

Good luck getting that in August, everything is for September production so you will likely see it in October, poss even December at somepoint, also I take it you are aware it won't have Sat Nav?

Ahh ok, delivery and lead time is massively up in the air and has been for many months, does seem strange that they they do have some coming through for then which haven't already been sold.
I spoke with a renault dealer who said his books weren't even open so couldn't take a order from me.
The company I used said he had a load of pre reg vans coming in end of July for August delivery.

I shall have to wait and see,anything is better than the transporter I have at the minute,the only upside being prices of used,low miles transporters is on the up and up atm.
