Oddly I’ve not seen a single recall.

Some I think have just been covered in services (no issue with service lights either).

I’m wondering if something is broken in our chain of ford, lease company, head office and me now!

Mine is booked in on Monday for a recall, wrong size fuse fitted at factory for the 'run on' fan.

Yup, that's the latest one. Organising 80 vehicles to get recalled that are spread all over the country is a ballache. Keeps happening frustratingly.

This is easier to just do yourself. It’s replacing a 15A fuse for a 7.5 A fuse in the engine fuse box. It’s the only 15 A fuse in MY fuse box so easy to identify (at the end of one row). It’s literally a 2 minute job. Buy a 7.5 mini fuse and do it yourself.

Unfortunately they have to go to a main dealer for recalls which can mean a significant wait. Ford are in real trouble with their commercials at the moment - I wont go near them for the forseeable future.
Having owned both a 2016 Transit Custom and Ranger Wildtrak (thankfully both now disposed of) I’d rather walk before buying another Ford commercial.

My 2.0 DCiV 170 Auto hit 95k this week.

Still no issues other than a snapped key in the bonnet lock which was replaced under warrenty.

It's replacement has been ordered today. Another Ford, but not a Custom.

I've just gone over 100k the only problem at the moment is the lane changing thingy has stopped working, I'll probably start looking for another one soon.

Does that mean it's stopped telling you that you are tired?

This is depressing, need to crush a Toyota Hiace and buy a ulez compliant van. Had thought Transit Customs were the pick of the bunch. Smooth drive, starts on the button, no faults that’s my Toyota!

Get a Toyota Proace, same van as my Dispatch which has been faultless for the last 16 months. I’m getting an E Dispatch in the summer.

I treated my transit well, and never had a moments hassle from it.

Seems like a lottery what van you end up with, folk who have no trouble go on forums to find out more and share their woes or positive experiences. Hard to gauge how bad things really are.

I’m looking at a 2017 Custom but is that too close to 2016 to have the issues associated with it. Making me lean towards leasing just out of fear. What kind of world is that!

My van owes me nothing and if I spent more than tyres, basic service and mot I’d be surprised. Nothing breaks and it starts in all weathers.

Thought pro ace were from same factory as Renault ? Who makes the engine in a pro ace? I need lwb for work

Proace is the same as the Citroen/Peugeot and now Vauxhall, I’m not sure if the Toyota uses different engines.

We're now at engine number 10 having expired, all 66 plate and one 67 plate. The latest one can't be repaired as the injectors won't come out allowing access to the head bolts - new engine going in.

As said previously, we're not buying any more.

It really does seem to be pot luck. A company I do some work for had a fleet of '14 plate first generation Customs, they were mostly trouble free but a couple from the fleet needed a lot of warranty work doing. Because of this they swapped the fleet to a 50/50 split of Vivaro's and Trafic's in 2017 and they've had endless issues with them, so they were planning to go back to Custom's again last year but Covid threw a spanner in the works...

Talking to a colleague this week who also had a similar issue with customs in terms of the quality of the paint work - shocking.
He had one on a 18 month lease, 30,000 trouble free miles but the paint work.
Speaking with the Ford dealership, they said it’s a common issue with the nine standard white colour van, they blame the quality control at the Turkish factory.

On arrival his silver custom had uneven spray marks including random clumps at the edge of panels; after 18 months when it was about go go back we had to pay a local paint body shop to go around it as it had so many scratches, the paint protection was none existent,.
It spent 18 months on A roads and motorways, not farmers fields.

In comparison, I have found the Fiat Talento while being a poorer driving experience and less toys, to be far more robust body wise.

The other main issue with customs up 2018? (Correct me if that’s is wrong), the security was none existent and it suffered from a famous inferior door lock housing which Ford later fixed (although it took them far longer than required to sort it).
