Government and new truckstops.

I along with many others signed the online petition to ask the gov about provision of more truck stops and facilities for truckers .
Today we had a reply ,I will attempt to load the e-mail later.
I reads like a reply from Sir Humphrey in Yes Minister!
Considering it was part of the Tory manifesto back when Cameron was first vying for office I would suggest that you
don't hold your breath waiting for the opening of the first new facilities.

Having to deal with various government departments over the years I am convinced it was a fly on the wall documentary in a foreign language .
Unfortunately I have lost my translation book .

Its such a shame that over the years many of the decent roadside lay by caffs and half decent private truck stops have disappeared. More and more trucks on the UK roads, with less, and less places for them to park and as long as the government and local authorities continue to bury their heads in the sands the longer the problem will continue, and get worse.

Always cracks me up when you get an industrial estate the size of Magna Park near Lutterworth, (springs to mind) and yet the whole estate is double yellow lines and there is no overnight parking for trucks.

Everybody wants the gear on the wagon, but no one wants the wagon anywhere near them.

I think there are very few modern industrial areas with any form of parking for trucks .Any parking is usually full of employees vehicles or tennants trucks . More and more councils especially in the south are removing food vans and closing laybys. Toilets are virtually none existent away from service areas .
Some of the truck stops are now more expensive than motorway services if taking a 24hr break .
A couple of new truck stops are models for what can be offered .
I am glad in a way that due to health reasons I no longer have to worry about trucking and finding overnight stops .

TBH mate, in a way so am I.

I'm still waiting on the final decision, (since November) from my complaint after the results of the Ombudsmans report, but if it does finally go in my favour, do I really want it back career wise?

Going back on the tours would be OK as everything is taken care of, but tramping round the UK has no appeal what so ever.

I am still having tests ,I had a suspected angina attack at the beginning of March .
Not allowed to drive large vehicles until it's stabilised and only if I have gone 6 weeks without an incident.
But as I had a stroke 8 years ago now angina the chances of finding a company that will employ me or insure me on trucks is about zero . Plus as you know it's not a healthy occupation.
