I noticed the iPhone knows best correction of ‘tipper ‘ to ‘ripper’, but left it as it amused me.

Also didn’t have time to correct as this prostitute had almost managed to wiggle free!

... and skip wagon drivers.

It is rare to see tractor trailer drivers being really bad, elephant racing aside.

I used to be of the opinion they were a lot better however over the years that opinion has declined somewhat. Not sure what the cause is but maybe the roads are more clogged or the contracts the owners are chasing are tighter combined with stricter rules, newer generation of drivers perhaps.

I wonder what car drivers would be like with lorry rules but in general I think many drivers are the same no matter what they are in. You get bullied by lorries as much as cars now.

Not excluding car drivers as a bunch of idiots, just that there is not much between them nowadays.

You have a winning personality. I hope that you get to meet one soon. And that he punches you in the mouth.

I drive a ripper lorry and I am a polite, well-spoken middle class ex-publicschoolboy. If you were to come into ‘conflict’ with me on the road then it would be the result of your own shortcomings.

It is true though that the scruffier the job, the scraggier the driver and muck-away type tippers are at the bottom of the pile, although higher up than skip lorry drivers!
That describes me apart from mine has a removals body. I've never driven a tipper but I can't imagine I'd suddenly change that much

All tippers are not alike. Comments here will be directed towards muck-away types and I understand the sentiment to some degree, but they aren't all the same.

Many tippers carry clean aggregate and asphalt and they are completely different. They certainly are not driven in the same manner.

My point wasn't really that - just that you really never know who to expect in any car or truck or van until you actually meet them

Working next to a commercial port, there are lots of lorries on my commute. The big artic drivers are almost always pretty decent drivers. They did ocassionally straddle both lanes of a merge in turn to block, but mostly don't have a problem. In fact on the bypass they tend to keep left to let people by.
They did decorate the new, tight roundabout with bottles of truckers cider though.

It's the smaller commercial truck drivers that seem to have little man syndrome.

Smiler.

We (my company) have had 3 minor prangs in the space of a month, one of which was today. Driver standards really are dropping IMHO.

In the last 4 or 5 years we have had at least 10 insurance claims. Our current premium is eye watering and over twice what we were paying in 2007.

All 3 recent ones have just been down to a lack of observation and poor planning.

We had 4 in a row a couple of years ago which were reversing accidents. Again lack of observation. We invested in reversing cameras and dash cams for the whole fleet. We also introduced driver bonus based on a clear 12 months with no accidents. Did not make any difference, don't have a single driver with a clear 12 months currently!

Drivers always rushing from A to B. No need for it, todays accident was on the way back to base empty with nothing else to do still had 2 hours left on his shift!

Will be dishing out a P45 on Friday, sigh.

Dumb saying. Do you not judge Hitler, or Jimmy Saville, or Fred West then?

Trying to belittle me, correcting my grammar, whilst being dumb enough to call a full stop a period - the irony is not lost on me.

I have an English A-Level, if you need any further help, dummy.

Two dumb snide posts in quick succession. It must really suck to be you.

Have to agree. With roads getting more and more congested, it has to be a job that gets more and more difficult. Comment earlier about pulling out on roundabouts with the 'sit and wait' attitude of motorists means they can be left in a sit and wait situation for a very long time - not only causing the lorry driver to wait for a very long time - but every single car behind them too. When a lorry driver pulls out on me I just think 'I know why you did that' and all is well. I don't envy them one bit.
