Hi all,

Our 2002 Peugeot Partner van has given up and we need a replacement. My OH runs a dog walking and grooming service so this will be the purpose of the van, and I will fit it out with cages and necessary equipment as I did the last one.

Size wise, it needs to be about the size of the Partner so I don’t think I’m limited there for choice, but I really know very little about vans and I wondered if any of you could throw me some suggestions?

Budget is I’d say up to £4K and mileage I’d say no more than 80k for a little life in it, but ideally the cheaper the better so I can move on that if it’s still going to be reliable.
I’m looking for the equilibrium between cost and reliability really, and aside from electrical gremlins on the old French dog, it went on and on for relatively little money. Where would your money go?

Thanks for the reply. How reliable have you found them, and any suggestions on engine choice?

Any reason not to stay with a Partner, newer one is slightly bigger and more car like in its drive.

Anything Ford will be stolen by a kid with a laptop

1.6 Partner would be my choice, keep oil changes regular should you buy

It’s just finding one that hasn’t been to the moon is the issue, and the 1.9D was a little breathless.

I’ve seen a 1.4 Nemo locally but again, no idea if good or bad.

A Partner or Berlingo is what you will find to fit that criteria.

Transit connect is going to be shagged at £4k
VW caddy will be nearly scrap
Vauxhall Combo will break

Nemo/Bipper should be ok but the space may be limited if you have to take a couple of big dogs.

Ive just bought a Partner to replace a shagged caddy, Its not as well thought out as the caddy, but its really not bad.
£4.5 k inc vat 47000 miles 2 years old.
