tacho install cost

Hi .I am needing to fit a tacho to my 2010 TDV8 Range Rover.
So far I have had a ball park figure of £1300 +vat , installed and calibrated .
Is this a reasonable price ...I was hoping for around the £1000 all in

Sounds about right .
I was told that replacement units are £800- £1000 .
I had one go u/s in a work truck and the company were not pleased with the bill .

Why do you need one fitted ?

Is it because the combo is over 3500kg and goes more than 100km radius of base ?
