Any help or experience sharing will be appreciated. I have a 2015 Renault D which was asking for a manual DPF regen to be carried out. This was done as normal (this has been done quite a few times since new with success).

Once the cycle was finished the gauge was still showing nearly full (the same place it was at the beginning) and the warning still present. Two more regens were carried out with no success.

The experts tried a regen with the computer, which runs longer than the one we can activate with the dash button with no change. Suggested the DPF is blocked beyond repair but should maybe try the before and after pressure sensors first just in case.

These were fitted and still no change. New DPF fitted and the truck is told that it has been replaced. The soot levels will not reset as a regen is required first (although it has a new DPF?)

Now the exhaust is not reaching the correct temp to do a full regen so it is possibly the fuel injector for the regen is not doing its job. This will be looked at again Monday now so I have to wait until then to see if they fix it.

If anyone can help with this please reply.

Does anyone know if a blocked DPF weighs much more than a new one? It would seem like a good way to tell if it blocked before buying a new one.

Thanks if you read all that.

You can get a DPF cleaned, there's quite a few companies doing it these days, it's probably a better bet than a replacement, unless you go oem as the aftermarket ones aren't the same quality. The regeneration burns the soot but eventually the build up of ash causes the blockage & the pressure differential shows this. The injector/vapouriser can also fail. I went through all this with my Transit, had the dpf cleaned, a week later the fault reoccurred & the vapouriser had failed, a new vapouriser from Ford was actually cheaper than the aftermarket one. Thanks. The DPF is is an exchange unit from Renault. I would not go aftermarket yet because the dealer allways says it could still be the issue because it’s not genuine. I’ve had this with adblue systems and spent more money in the long run.

I’m a bit miffed because if it turns out to be the injector then possibly if that was fixed first then a regen of the original DPF could of been possible.

The techs say no, the DPF is definitely not serviceable. I know I need to trust them to do there best or I will not get anywhere but it’s not there money being wasted potentially on parts not needed.

Both the old and new DPF weighed the same. Looking at this video, it seems there could be a difference in weight before and after.

A DPF injector has been fitted and a regen with the dash button has been carried out, the fault has cleared.

Looks like just a injector fault.
