Footwear advice

I came across an RAC site that gave advice on driving and footwear, said you should not drive without shoes, in flip flops or heels or heavy shoes like walking shoes or snow shoes.

So what about heavy safety shoes that many companies make lorry drivers wear?

Is this the story about being charged a £5000 fine and 300 years in prison for DWDCA? I suspect it's all advice but I think I read it's footwear that would restrict your ability to drive your vehicle safely. I can sort of see their point but can't say I've ever heard of someone charged with it. If you've had a crash then you've likely got bigger problems ahead than a pair of flip-flops.

On the A1 longest road one guy got a suspended sentence for crashing after driving with no shoes. I see lots of women drive in heels, how do you do that?

Driving without shoes seems common in some countries, Australia, USA, New Zealand...

I usedto hate driving in safety shoes!
