As already mentioned a lot of the truckers from abroad will often be out for weeks, and weeks at a time especially those from the more Eastern European countries, often on a pretty low wage in comparison to many of their Western European counterparts. Costs for these guys is an issue hence a lot going down the in cab cooking route and i don't blame them.
With the huge influx of trucks and transport companies coming more and more these days from the east it has had a knock on effect on a lot of the European truck stops as the Eastern European guys don't really like spending money in these often top notch establishments as it would take too big a chunk out of their wages.

I used to always carry a 2 burner stove with me, pots, pans, pasta, etc. I never cooked in cab as i'm a bit OCD and to be fair i rarely cooked at all as our night out money would more than cover a cracking meal in any European truck stop, but it was always there just in case.

I have always admired the Turkish lads as they have been at long distance trucking for years and have it down to a fine art in many ways. A lot of these lads get to keep the same trailer and you'll often see them more than prepared to be self sufficient when on their travels. A lot will have a cracking setup in the trailer side boxes with cooking and washing facilities all built in. A very warm and welcoming bunch too, I've had some cracking meals cooked by the Turks over the years as if you are stuck out on your own, they would quite often invite you too dine with them.
Hey Chili, long time no see I think ? Hows trix these days ?

Companies seem to vary a huge amount on wages/conditions etc especially the foreign truckers. The last company I worked for had to work away for several weeks at a time in the wagon but ours were fully kitted out with fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machine, tv and they payed £45 a night out plus pay for parking with meal vouchers if staying at a services so not a bad do really. Lads will still have camping stoves as well for when cereal doesn’t cut it anymore and you need a fry up!
Iv seen several foreign trucks all meet up at truck stops and get the camping stoves out all chipping in (often have Mrs with them as well) making massive meals and sitting round tables like a big family gathering but they do months away something like 6 months on 2 months off for very poor wages.
There has also been a clamp down on where you can take your weekly rest, no more 45 hours in lay-bys must have access to facility’s etc.

Hello mate, pretty good to be fair now the DVLA thing is a thing of the past. I didn’t go back on the rock n roll tours as I now enjoy being at home much more and Russia in the winter wasn’t that appealing smile

Current job is ok but I am now just a steering wheel attendant but the money and benefits are good for this industry.

Bought myself a Z4, (yes I know) but I do really love it.

How’s things your end and have you still got the 7?

In my (vicarious) experience, that is uncommonly good.

I thought that they simply werent allowed to take it in the vehicle, but Im not sure how it is enforced.

It's enforced differently country to country . The common attitude is that services and truck parks must be used , with facilities such as toilets , showers and food available.
Many had hoped that a return to staying in hotels for the weekend was going to be the norm . That certainly is not going to be practical in the UK
