This is the firm I work for and they are looking drivers in the north west, based in Heysham and most loads are pick up along m6 and drop at Heysham docks, decent facilities in their depot and bar about a dozen scania highlines the rest of the 200 odd fleet is under 3years old and nicely specced.
Hi Decky, do you know if they're looking at Bradford depot? I'm on bulk and farm milk tankers at the moment out of Lancs but looking for something local, ideally 4o4o. Is Bradford depot the one off Canal Rd? Don't want to be going over the water. Odd night out OK, or longer/outbased if shower facilities are available on site. Won't do tramping if relying on MSAs. What are their rates? Interesting point. Who do you think you should rely on?
What should they charge?
What should they provide?
And most importantly do you think it should all be free?
If not, why not as that is the general driver/haulage industry (but not the hospitality industry) consensus.

If that’s actually 4pm-2am mon-fri could be a very cushty number for that wage.
Chances are that 4pm-2am is the start time window ,can't see 45k for a 50hr week somehow in the UK .

I'm not sure what relevance this has to the thread. Maybe you should start a separate thread if you wish to discuss MSA facilities.
Sorry you brought MSA's and facilities into it.Some drivers use night out money to inflate their take home pay/rate. So I thought it may be relevant.
As you were. Don't answer the question.

Indeed. No-one is on £17.31 an hour for driving a truck in the UK unless those 50 hours are somehow all being squeezed into Saturdays and Sundays.
Probably easy to hit as an owner operator though? I know a couple of guys who own their own tippers and drive for Tarmac, they seem to be doing pretty well even after repayments on a £100k worth of truck.speedyguy said:

MSA shower facilities are closed at most places. I'm not doing overnights without access to wash/shower facilities. Some companies provide them at their own depots, some don't.Some drivers use night out money to inflate their take home pay/rate. So I thought it may be relevant.

I don't know where in "NW" you are. Preferably with food grade tanker and farm experience but can train someone with the right mindset. Very relaxed and laid back work. Current and ex-tipper driver foot-to-the-floor-everywhere types need not apply. No newbies as we do a lot of very tight spots.
Hourly rate not job and knock. Having worked for RM at Wakefield hub I'd say you need to try harder if £18 is the best you can do.
As a side note, it's worth the newbies here noting that drivers bragging about how much they ('re/claim to be) earning is their number one forté and can be heard in haulage yards, RDCs and internet forums up and down the land. 99% of the time the figures claimed are BS and/or include night out money, meal allowance, shift allowance, fuel bonus, attendance allowance, company pension top up and the 10 hours overtime that accounts dept missed off their previous week's pay packet and the £20 that their mate owed them .

In a passed life I used to secdual and employ all of the agency drivers for Royal mail crick (some of you will work out from that who I used to work for) £18 an hour was easily achieved going up to £20 per hour plus for weekends, nights and Bank Holidays.
We had guys working three or four days weeks by choice who would not do any extra hours and some guys who worked six months of the year spending the other six months out in Thailand or the Philippines catching unsavoury sti, s the other six months.
I would have thought the rates have changed somewhat now as I believe the agency supply contract has changed.
