Passed my full C test and practical CPC this afternoon. Delighted. Next, save up for a couple of months and when the tour work goes quiet for the winter start on the artic lessons.

Cheers! Thought I did badly but apparently the lady tester is notoriously picky, not a single word outside of the instructions!

Just got home from a 700km drive in one of these, an EX17. Negotiating city streets is a breeze with the third steering axle but the rear overhang is massive, I drive with my lights on during the day so I can use the white/red corner markers on the back for an indication of where the extremities are. I find it easier than the (slightly) shorter EX16 but without a rear steer and the wheelbase is massive, requiring ridiculous swings around corners with anything on the edge to avoid catching the side lockers as I found out to my peril...
Is that like 4 metres? I mean the overhang.
Also, I’m curious to find out how are these compared to a rigid?
Have to say never measured it but I reckon it could be almost that for sure. I think some have a shorter overhang with a standard EcoLife 6-speed auto (as opposed to the TraXon automated manual which is a huge box). They are big old brutes but a good square shape. If it was something like a Plaxton Panther or Irizar i9S which are all swoopy I reckon you wouldn't be long coming a cropper as there's bits that stick out where you can't see them!

Been quiet on this since Ive had a bit of a mare with it all. After I did my theory and sent off for provisional my license was sent away and subsequently lost either by the DVLA or in the post, I did move house around the same time but the chap at the training place was adamant he put my new address down... Anyway.. Then I had to provide loads of ID by post to get a new one because I'd also let my passport lapse by accident, with lockdown etc I hadn't given it a second thought and that's what they normally verify your ID via when replacing a licence.

Long story short this has taken bloody months longer than it should have but I'm pleased to report I passed my C1 this morning first attempt. All in all pretty straight forward, only had a few niggles to work on in my training but for sure an accumulation of those niggles could have been the difference between a pass or a fail.

I did it with Red Rose driver training and would certainly recommend them.
