Already getting messy with the ULEZ extension from 25th October, van owners are getting panicky as they can't get new vans on time.

Looks like prices are softening, unsold new vans available with discount deals and local used van dealer declined to make an offer on a friends late transit custom , saying he had enough stock !! Since sold to WBAC !! So who knows. But looks like it’s getting back to normal whatever that is .

There's a lot of new van discounts at dealers, but hardly any of them have any physical vans in stock, the wait times for new vans are still extremely long so they've had to put offers on.

Price of my van is still continuing to rise on a monthly basis according to wbac, its probably them I'll sell it to.

I've been pondering the economics of chopping in my 19 transit for a newun, what with the super deduction too, but can't be arsedlaugh

Anyone done similar?

Edit: I know I just said I can't be arsed but wbac offer £21.5k, more than I paid for it 2.5 years ago! New van is being offered for 23k - maybe I should order a new one if deposit is fully refundable?

6m lead time at least, I'd imagine?

6m down the line will your current van still be 21.5k?

Wow. I picked up a new Wildtrak a few months ago, back then they were talking 12 months for new Wildtraks and Transit pickups.

Thing is what do you do in the meantime if you need a van , however it seems it’s no good saying I want a xy zee in black without stripes Because the factory is churning out what some bod ordered for stock six months ago ,you have to say what have you got available Maybe It’s close to what you want 🤔

I gave up trying to special order fords years ago they always did have long lead times , once again the trick is to ask what is in the system and pick something close !!
Luckily I have newish stuff and unless someone totals something should be ok for a couple of years .

I would suspect these and camper vans will be the first to go down in value once people start foreign holidays again and need the money out of them !!

Yep, many manufacturers now are prioritising more profitable retail customers, pushing fleet to the back of the queue.,

What do you think the outcome of this will be?

I guess the cost of leasing/hiring will go up?

Maybe the manufacturers won't want to go back to discounting?

There will still be discounting but not on the level we are used to and yes leasing costs will go up.

SEAT are rumoured to be pulling all fleet support and also pulling out of Motability from next quarter, the manufacturer I sell for have a very good deal for Costco members, this is being slashed from October and just won't be worth doing anymore, I can't find the communication about it now, but it was sent directly to us by one of the fleet reps at head office, but it was along the lines of, savings need to be made, discounts are to be slashed, get all existing prospects closed this quarter as the support won't be there from October.

I can see offers from next quarter in general being slashed across the board.

A colleague who has a friend in the chip industry was sent a whats app of info, stating that this issue will be going well into 2023.
