I've drained the toilet and flush, and the hot water tank, set the taps to open mid position.

Anything else to do?

Cover it in Vaseline...?

Oh no wait, that's chrome on a classic.

My parents had one for years and years, no problem and this was 40 years ago!

If you can go in a few times and air it off, check air vents are not covered, is it at home?

Remove gas bottles depressurise the gas system.
Disconnect and remove the liesure battery.
Empty cupboards, leave doors open.
Remove soft furnishings if possible.
Leave blinds down, so springs not in tension but blank off windows to stop light bleaching fabrics.
Put in some cheapo moisture absorbers.

Or, just use it all year.

I'd suggest some petrol and a match.

Don't want it getting cold over winter.

(Yes, there's always one - and I'm okay with it being me.)

Drain cold water down as well and remove inlet filter (mine is in-line and carries quite a lot of water, which readily freezes and splits). I've got no facility to drain the cold water, but disconnect the pipe feeding the WC flush as there is no other way of leaving a tap open in this circuit. Also drain the hot water tank. I also jack my van up and leave on axle stands to take the weight off the tyres and bearings.

I leave mine with the mains power attached. Optimax on the battery and a blow heater set to stun. All internal doors and cupboards open.

Our wintering plans have changed a little.

The caravan will now be our accommodation at Christmas at the in-laws. While this could upset me, having a quiet escape pad can only be a bonus...

Just put ours back into the storage site after a week away down in The Cotswolds. Think most things have been mentioned, battery off, cupboards & expecially the fridge open and furnishings out or in a position where the air can circulate along with curtains pulled over is about it.

Don't forget to open the hot water drain if there is one - I did that and when I left 10 mins later it was still dribbling so there's more in there than you think! I've just realised that I didn't remove the inline cold water filter though...

A friend of mine was very tempted by the Floe drainage system at the NEC a few weeks ago and was raving about them for getting all the trapped water out.

Having spent over a £100 on taps this year I got hold of one of these,

Impressed at the amount of water that it pushed out. Recommended.
