Hi all. I've just entered the world of the camper van. It's a 15yr old Peugeot Express van that has been nicely converted.

I have one question though (for now). I have what looks like a long kettle lead, that is apparently a lead for a little TV which wasn't included in the sale (the van has full electric hook up facility btw). Is there some sort of adapter that I'm missing? I don't recall having seen a TV which requires a kettle-like lead before. It is routed through the roof and hangs down by the TV wall mount the previous owner used.

It's for a tv that needs a kettle lead.... Most of the larger ones do. Smaller ones sometimes do....

Well, yes indeed. I can't find any link between kettle leads and tvs on t'net though.

Looks like I'll have to actually walk into one of those shop things and ask.

Thanks though.

That would fit a pc monitor too... Android box with a USB tuner would give you a lot of options if you have decent data on your phone

I've got decent data, but I'm not overly techy. I was thinking more along the lines of a freeview tv with a dvd player.

I've looked on Amazon and ebay etc. at pictures of camping tvs, but haven't seen any that would accommodate this lead.

It's probably not a camping tv. Just a bog standard tv

My big tellies use this type of plug for mains power. The 15" telly I had in the kitchen had a power brick giving 12V out to power the telly. The power brick also had a socket that used this type of plug on the mains side. It's known as an IEC connector.

I've been searching all things IEC, and again drew a blank as far as tvs are concerned.

Cheers all. I think I shall be taking it out as I don't want a big tv in there. Small, thin and light with a low voltage draw is the way to go.

Thanks for clearing that up.

It's an IEC C13 power connector. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_60320
