Brilliant gif! hehe

Yeah, we're taking the caravan to a friends farm for a few nights, spot of clay pigeon shooting, plinking, BBQ'ing and star gazing smile

In-laws are going in their caravan and there'll be a few tents as well.

Should be good smile

Spent a week looking for somewhere but really struggled;

Either

Fully Booked - yeah I know I left it late - bite me
Mininum of 5 nights over the bank holiday weekend only - WHAT!? You robbing bds, some of us have to work
No Dogs during school Holidays - my dog does the same amount of Turd outside of the holiday as well
Too Far - its a weekend so 2 hours tops

Will do a late sweep next week of the favourites to see if any have had cancellations or want to drop the dumb rules...

Cirencester Park CC site?

Don't come through the town as its being remodelled currently, make sure to use the ring road (which I guess you would anyway if you are coming up the M4 way). Come off at the first Cirencester turning off the A417 (interestingly called "Cirencester Industrial Areas"...NB there are no steelworks/coking plants/coal mines/heavy industries here btw hehe)

Also don't be tempted to drive into town when on site if you can help it as parking can be ludicrous these days as there is a woeful lack of parking spaces. Again, given the proximity of the site to town I guess you wouldn't do that anyway...

Give us a shout if you want some local knowledge on things to do or see if you don't know the area

Unfortunately no, (we had a deposit paid for a place in the Lake District which my wife switched to be the deposit on a holiday we had there earlier in the month). The deposit had been made in April.

So that saved us a very small amount of money but has cost us a place to go! In hindsight she may realise that she made a mistake and hopefully won't do something so short sighted again, as the bank holiday weekend is a very popular time to go away.

We haven't found anywhere to go instead so won't be bothering now.

That's the one yep. We wanted somewhere not too far for our first outing and someone recommended the CC site to us.

I think we'd be driving up the A429 as we are coming from just south of Chippenham so that won't take us through the town (I think). Thanks for the heads up anyway. We've been to Cirencester once before and familiarised ourselves with Waitrose but would be interested to know what's worth going to see, drinking places or eateries included smile

If you are camping, there was an article in yesterdays Observer about 5 great campsites with late availability. It might be worth checking to see if you can find it on line...

If not let me know and I'll dig out yesterdays paper and post them up.

Coming from that direction and through Malmesbury you will be fine. In fact it drops you right at the roundabout which the site is just off. No worries

I'll drop you a PM regarding 'stuff'

Thank you for the kind offer.

We have instead made plans to meet up with friends so the kids can go to 'Tree Top nets' near where they live on Sunday, and we are having a day trip to Liverpool on one of the other days. The prospect of a day out to a city doesn't fill me with joy but my kids like music (the Beatles) and one of them is a Liverpool FC fan and they are keen to go.
