Had an email that a thread of mine from 2016 has been deleted for contravening rule number 16; Do not post or link for the purposes of advertising or personal gain (including cars for sale). If you wish to advertise then please use the classifieds or contact us directly.

Now, as it was two years ago and as far as I'm aware hasn't been commented on since I have no idea what I did that contravened that rule-any chance of a heads up? Not trying to be contrary but if you don't want us to do something it might be worth letting us know what we've done to invoke the deletion in the email you send? Just a thought.

The thread was my "send the luggage ahead" one originally found here;

From what I can gather, a noobie (read spammer) posted on your thread to plug his crap, it appears that instead of the mod just removing the offending POST he removed the entire thread.

If you wish for it to be re-instated, I'll see what I can sort. smile

Do you not think a better moderation approach would not be to remove the whole thread.
Seems pretty lazy of the mod in question.

I doubt it will have been done by one of the long term volunteer mods - based on the description it sounds very much like it's been done by one of the Haymarket placed anony-mods.

Fairly sure it's been mentioned before that some of them seem a bit click happy and don't tend to notify / email posters as to why things have been removed.

Lazy! I spend about 10 hours plus a day every day on the website modding, & you've got the nerve to call me lazy?

Thanks so the vote of confidence, as I said it was an error on my part which I will resolve.

However, feel free to give us a few pointers in your infinite wisdom as to how we should improve if you feel inclined. rolleyes

You really do need to read ALL the posts on a thread and not just make, stupid comments.

In fairness Al, your first post didn't read as though you were the mod who removed the thread. smile

I all honesty mate, I'm not sure it was me, as another mod was working on the same report at the same time.

Unfortunately we have no way of notifying each other if we're involved modding on a report.

Sorry for my reply, below I thought I was on another thread in here, where I said I'd made an error.

But I would say in my defence, that we are not lazy, we just lack the tools to do the job properly at times.

Makes a note to read thread title before jumping in with both feet.paperbag

hehe

For what's its worth, I think the mods on PH do a pretty good job, overall. On other forums I've frequented, heavy-handed modding has completely ruined the site's vibe, whereas I don't get that feeling on PH.

I’m not really bothered to be honest, I can’t even remember what the thread contained confused I guess it might be worthwhile asking the other mods if they can simply delete the offending posts rather than the entire thread mind you?

OK, I don't think the whole thread was meant to be removed, just the wrong button pressed.

I'll close this one now. smile
